What is the best age to get braces or orthodontic treatment?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an orthodontic screening at age seven. By this age, most children have several permanent teeth that have erupted, letting us evaluate their orthodontic needs as well as their jaw relationships to one another.
By this age, Dr. Greg can spot subtle problems with jaw growth and emerging teeth while some baby teeth are still present. Early detection of these problems is important because by catching them early and intervening at a younger age, these problems can be corrected easier, minimizing the overall length of treatment. Most orthodontic patients begin active braces treatment between ages 9 and 14.

Yes, we can start your orthodontic treatment the same day as your consultation! We value your time and strive to minimize unnecessary visits, ensuring you get started on your journey to a beautiful smile right away!
How long will I need to wear braces or aligners?
Treatment length varies depending on the complexity of your case, but most patients wear braces or aligners for 12 to 24 months. When you come in for your consultation, we will evaluate your concerns and your case and together come up with a timeline that is custom fit for you!
How do I take care of my teeth with braces?
It’s important to brush and floss carefully around the braces and wires. We’ll provide instructions on maintaining good oral hygiene, and regular checkups will help ensure your teeth and gums stay healthy during treatment. Do I need a referral from my dentist?
No, a referral is not required to schedule a consultation with us. However, we do recommend that you have seen your dentist within the past six months, especially if you’re considering starting treatment on the same day. This ensures that your teeth and underlying bone structures are healthy and ready for orthodontic care. If you haven’t had a recent dental checkup, we may refer you back to your dentist before beginning treatment to ensure everything is in optimal condition.
How much does treatment cost?
The fees of orthodontic treatment varies depending on individual needs, the type of treatment YOU choose, and your insurance coverage. To provide an accurate estimate, we’ll need to assess your case during the initial consultation. After Dr. Greg conducts a thorough exam, you’ll receive a clear outline of the total treatment cost upfront—no surprises!
